Changan has announced that its new Deepal G318 hardcore SUV received 14,126 orders within just 120 hours of its launch. Priced between RMB 175,900 and 318,000 (equivalent to 24,300 USD to 43,900 USD), the G318 is a rugged off-road range extender SUV.
The Deepal G318 offers six variants, catering to both two-wheel and four-wheel drive options. The entry-level two-wheel-drive standard version is available for pre-order and will be delivered in August, while the top-spec variant is expected to begin pre-sales in early 2025.
Powered by Changan's Blue Core platform, the G318 features a 1.5T range extender, high-performance electric motor, and Golden Shield battery. This combination provides a peak power of 185 kW (rear) and 131 kW (front). The SUV boasts a rugged exterior design with cyber-metal armor, C-shaped energy lights, and a high ground clearance of 240 mm, ensuring it stands out on and off the road.
The interior offers three elegant color options: Forest Black, Glacier Blue, and Holy Lake Green. It includes a 14.6-inch smart screen, a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel, and several handles to emphasize its off-road capabilities.
The G318 is packed with advanced features such as front seat ventilation and heating, IACC (Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control), a 540° panoramic camera, and the enhanced Deepal OS. Additionally, it offers five-pane double-layer soundproof glass, ENC active noise cancellation, and an R-EPS steering system.
The G318 provides a CLTC-rated combined range of over 1,000 km and a battery-powered range of 190 km. It also includes a 6kW external discharge function and is equipped with electronic infinite differential locks and a rear axle electric drive differential lock to ensure superior off-road performance.
The vehicle's ET all-terrain modes include five daily modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Exclusive, Custom) and five terrain modes (Snow, Mud, Sand, Rough, Wading). Other notable features include in-place U-turn, hill descent control, off-road creep mode, air suspension, and CDC chassis adjustment. The G318 also offers impressive trunk space ranging from 818L to a maximum of 1,747L, providing ample storage for all adventures.
